BPA overall went well for my group, we had some minor technical difficulties with the sound and the video burnt wrong. Even though we had some technical difficulties our questions went well, they asked us what program we used to create the video, Nik answered with exactly what we rehearsed. They didn’t ask us about squash and stretch, Nickolas answered a lot of the questions about the idea, where it came from and why we chose it. The reason we had him answer most of the questions regarding most of those things was because the idea came from him. We had a bad presentation of the video so I’m sure that the seniors won the competition. When we were showing the video the sound was turned up really loud so someone in the group opened up the Volume Control meter from down at the bottom covering most of the video for just about the whole second scene. We also had an explosion in the wrong place so while N-Cast was talking an explosion happened out of nowhere. I answered one of the questions that they had about how we did the background; I told them it was a bitmap image behind the characters and ship. Israel answered the questions that the judges had about the ship, and the ships in the background. They had asked us why we had so many ships going past in one of the scenes; we told them that typically in space movies they have a lot of small ships protecting the big ship.
Next year I will probably work on the same project but I will make sure that I don’t end up in the same group as one of the group members that I was with this year. It was when it came down to fine tuning the details that we really started getting at each other and I have found that I have a really short fuse that I have to watch around certain people. Also next year I would make sure that my group picks an idea that would be a little bit more challenging because this year we had our problems but it was mostly because it was the first real BPA competition we were in, and we just had the jitters. The environment was very tense at the competition and right before we went into the competition my group started joking around a little bit and we had a little bit looser feeling going into the judging I felt. I’m not sure if that was a good or bad thing since we had a bad presentation. The first DVD we put in didn’t work and the volume was extremely loud at first, also we didn’t introduce ourselves for about the first minute or two of the presentation.
